Overview
This Special Issue call invites multidisciplinary conceptual and empirical contributions concerning servitization and digital servitization (product-service-software systems) and the role of these transitions in supporting sustainability, circularity, and resource wisdom in manufacturing. We look for studies exploring how digitally-enabled business model innovation contributes to sustainability and circularity through sustainable life-cycle PSS offerings. The SI aims to discuss the interplay between institutional influences, ecosystem dynamics, and strategic and innovation practices. The overarching question is, how does embedding sustainability into business models through (digital) servitization strategies call for new organizational and ecosystem-wide practices that enable value creation and capture in manufacturing?
